Gonorrhea (Neisseria gonorrhoeae) is a very common STD; Gonorrhea is a purulent inflammation of mucous membrane surfaces caused by a sexually transmitted microorganism, Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Virtually any mucous membrane can be infected. This bacterial infection may at first cause a slight discharge from the vagina, penis, or anus.
